That was fast. Discovery Institute’s John West spoke on “Scientism in the Age of Obama” just yesterday at the Heritage Foundation in Washington, DC — and they’ve already got the speech up on YouTube.
There’s a cute exchange at the beginning between Becky Norton Dunlop, Heritage’s VP for External Relations, and Dr. West over the hundred-plus pages of footnotes at the end of his book Darwin Day In America: How Our Politics and Culture Have Been Dehumanized in the Name of Science, the newly expanded version. Dunlop observes that with this impressive scholarly documentation of sources, “Once you’ve finished the book, you’re not finished.”
John West reassures the audience that they are not under any ethical obligation to read all the footnotes, though of course they are welcome to do so. Enjoy!
