The powerful impression you get from the arguments offered by intelligent design proponents is one of many, many aspects of life and the cosmos being set up just so, for the benefit of creatures like us, who are able to explore our place in the universe and wonder about our origins. It’s extremely eerie. On a new episode of ID the Future, Privileged Planet co-authors Jay Richards and Guillermo Gonzalez talk about the mounting evidence for the thesis they first presented in their book back in 2004.
The place we inhabit here on Earth bears the marks of a design intended to make scientific discovery possible, but so does the time we live in. How convenient. Or as Dr. Richards puts it, “The time when scientists can exist in the universe is also the best time for doing science, which is a confirmation of our argument.”
This bias in favor of science, you might say, tells you something about the mind behind the cosmic design, a mind that wishes to be known not just through faith or through reading holy scriptures, but through the tools of science.
