I noted the snakes/biomimetics connection last week. Now, it’s back! Meet the Paradise Flying Snake (Chrysopelea paradise). Apart from the shock value of seeing snakes flying through the air, this CBS News video points out the possible engineering angle: “Scientists believe that understanding how the snakes move might hold the key to the next generation of flying vehicles.” Nice! Biomimetics, as you know, is the science of taking design tips from supposedly undesigned nature.
